History & Story
What began in 2003 as a visionary dream by travel industry pioneer and naturalist Raj Singh—launching India’s first river journeys in over a century—has evolved into Antara’s distinguished fleet of thoughtfully designed, luxuriously appointed ships. Today, Antara sails the most iconic rivers of South Asia, redefining river cruising in the region. Our philosophy is rooted in a deep respect for the environments, wildlife, and cultures we encounter. We are committed to showcasing the soul of South Asia sustainably and meaningfully—through immersive experiences and warm hospitality aboard ships crafted with intention, elegance, and care.
Main Strengths, Special Touch
Launched in 2015, the Ganges Voyager—a locally handcrafted, all-suite ship—has been acclaimed as one of the top 6 river journeys in the world. Featuring 28 spacious suites styled in elegant colonial architecture, it offers a boutique cruising experience that blends heritage with luxury. At Antara, our core philosophy centres on sustainable, low-impact, and low-volume river tourism. Every journey is designed to enhance and support local communities while protecting the fragile ecosystems, wildlife, and cultural landscapes along South Asia’s waterways. We believe in travel that leaves a positive footprint—immersive, responsible, and truly enriching.
Children Policy
All ages are welcome; however, we do not offer childcare or children’s programmes. Guests under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian over 21. Children up to 2 years stay complimentary in the same cabin. For children 3–17 years: 50% of the twin-sharing rate if sharing a bed with an adult, or 75% of the single-use rate if occupying their own cabin (subject to availability).
