History & Story
Architect Ed Tuttle found his inspiration for the properties 31 unique suites from the sensual lines of Borobudur, this striking monument lies just a few kilometers across the valley and clearly visible from Amanjiwo. The Property was born in 1997 and ages gracefully. The guest experience is a peacful and spiritual one encompassing an eclectic mix of village and temple tours, unique picnics and trekking to horse and cart rides or even elephants. Art lovers will relish the array of galleries exhibiting the local talents from in and around Yogjakarta and the Boroobudur area. Food lovers are in heaven as the Javanese insired menus at Amanjiwo offer a wide variety of locally infused dishes. Surounding Amanjiwo and the Kedu valley are four mamoth volcanoes adding a sceneinc touch to whereever you are in the property. The Menoreh hills wrap around the the southern part of the resort and offer easy access to hikes with or without a guides. Finally Yogjakarta, just an hour by road away.
