History & Story
A peaceful resort on the outskirts of downtown Shanghai, Amanyangyun is the culmination of an ambitious feat of architectural and ecological conservation. Amid a flourishing forest of camphor trees near a tranquil lake, 13 re-mastered Ming and Qing Dynasty villas have been carefully moved brick-by-brick from Fuzhou to offer a glimpse of China’s past in a magnificent natural setting. Amanyangyun also offers 24 contemporary suites, a comprehensive Aman Spa, three restaurants, two bars, and a unique cultural centre known as Nan Shufang.

Main Strengths, Special Touch
Kerry Hill Architects – also behind Aman Tokyo, Amanemu, and Aman Kyoto – have meticulously restored the 26 disassembled antique dwellings to create villas for Amanyangyun, seamlessly integrating contemporary comfort into the century-old fabric of the buildings. The landscape garden designed by Dan Pearson Studio combines plants and architectural uniqueness to create a secluded green harbor. Breathing new life into history, Amanyangyun brings the promise of a soul-easing sanctuary to Shanghai; a place where mindful living, natural splendor, and historic wonders interweave and thrive.
Location
Situated in Maqiao Town in Shanghai’s Minhang District, Amanyangyun is a private enclave approximately 24 kilometers from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (a 20-minute drive away), and 55 kilometers from Pudong International Airport (a one-hour drive away). The resort is in close proximity to Qizhong Golf Course, Forest Sports City Arena, and Forest Park.

Fun Facts
The King Tree is accompanied by an ancient well, which also migrated with the trees from Fuzhou, Jiangxi province. The Chinese characters inscribed on the stone well symbolize good wishes for the newlyweds. The couple can take a ladle of water from the ancient well to water the King Tree together and make a good wish for a long love under the tree.
Children’s Corner
Amanyangyun’s Cultural Discovery Centre, a convivial meeting ground for children, will offer a host of experiences, each designed to help the resort’s younger guests unearth the rich culture of China. The club will welcome children aged from five to twelve, and will also have a dedicated program for teenagers. Chinese lantern making, paper cutting, pottery molding, and many other kids’ activities will also be organized.
