Mr. Vaipanya is one of Thailand’s most distinguished hoteliers, with over 30 years of experience. He began at the Siam InterContinental and joined Chiva-Som in 1994, where he helped pioneer its acclaimed wellness cuisine. After roles with Four Seasons in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Samui, Singapore, and Hawaii, he returned to Chiva-Som in 2018 as General Manager. Known for his global perspective, attention to detail, and warm leadership style, he is dedicated to perfecting the guest experience.

History & Story
In 1993, our founder, Thai businessman and politician Boonchu Rojanastien demolished his beach house in the Thai resort of Hua Hin to build a weekend retreat from the fast pace of Bangkok city life. He was inspired by his own very positive experiences back in the 1970s, at ‘health farms’, mainly in Europe. When he opened Chiva-Som, meaning ‘Haven of Life’, in 1995, he invited his friends and family to share beach walks, fresh air, good food and relaxation, under his personal motto: ‘above all, enjoy life!’ Over time, more people were excited to follow the path of wellness by the sea in the Gulf of Thailand and Chiva-Som became Asia’s first wellness resort, followed rapidly by a worldwide reputation as a leading holistic health destination and the winner of many awards. 30 years on, we’re proud of our legacy and grateful to our founder whose vision has led to the transformation of so many people’s lives.

Chiva-Som offers a deeply personal and holistic approach to wellness, focusing on sustainable lifestyle transformation and achieving harmony between body, mind, and spirit. By blending Western practices with Eastern philosophies, our comprehensive wellness retreats cater to diverse individual goals.
Each of our 16 retreats is built upon six core wellness modalities: Spa, Fitness, Physiotherapy, Holistic Health, Nutrition, and Aesthetic Beauty. These pillars support guests in addressing specific concerns such as weight management, stress reduction, and sleep enhancement. Retreats vary in duration and treatment inclusions to meet each guest’s unique needs.
Every journey begins with a personal consultation with a Health & Wellness Advisor, who provides ongoing guidance throughout the stay. Guests enjoy three nutritious wellness meals daily, a complimentary daily treatment of choice, additional treatments according to their selected programme, and access to a wide range of daily group classes focused on movement and mindfulness.
