History & Story
Shibaura’s story begins as a fishing village in the Edo period (1603–1868), renowned for its “Shiba-fish”and “Shiba-shrimp”. Over time, the area blossomed into a lively destination with swimming beaches, dazzling summer fireworks, and vibrant entertainment. A defining moment in its transformation came in 1872 with the opening of Japan’s first railway, the Yokohama-Shinbashi line, which brought new energy and modernity to the district. Today, the BLUE FRONT SHIBAURA project continues Shibaura’s evolution, shaping it into a dynamic hub for international business and tourism.
Located within the South Building, Fairmont Tokyo reflects this rich heritage and vibrant spirit, hosting unforgettable events and fostering moments of meaningful connection.
