Yoshihito Kaseda began his hospitality career in 2004 at Hilton Tokyo Bay. He gained international experience at Hilton Cebu Resort & Spa (Philippines) and held management roles at Conrad Tokyo. At Mandarin Oriental Tokyo, he served in various leadership positions, including Director of Rooms. In 2020, he moved to London to join the prestigious Claridge’s as Director of Rooms, further strengthening his operational and management expertise across the global luxury hotel sector. He returned to Japan in 2022 to rejoin Mandarin Oriental Tokyo, where he oversaw hotel operations as Hotel Manager. In July 2025, he was appointed General Manager of HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO.

HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO is a luxury hotel located beside Kyoto’s UNESCO World Heritage-listed Nijo Castle. Built on the historic site of the Mitsui family residence. The 160-room hotel features 2 restaurants, including the Innovative Kyoto French TOKI; Thermal Spring Spa sourced from an on-site natural spring; and a modern tea ceremony room. The hotel presents an ambiance of refined sophistication and serves as a cultural gateway to discover Kyoto.

The Kajiimiya Gate
Standing imposingly at the entrance to HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO, the Kajiimiya Gate has a history stretching back over 300 years and a long-standing connection with the Mitsui family. The gate has been lovingly restored to its former glory.
The Garden
Our courtyard garden is located in the centre of the property and measures some 1,300㎡. Landscape Designer Shunsaku Miyagi has created a modern recreation of the garden of the Mitsui residence that used to be located on the site of HOTEL THE MITSUI KYOTO.

Thermal Spring with Natural hot spring Onsen sourced onsite.
One of the great pleasures of a visit to Kyoto is experiencing an onsen thermal spring, and here you can immerse yourself in these healing baths, in a calming environment punctuated by the sound of running water. Let the naturalspring water soak away all of your stresses and strains, so you can attain complete relaxation. Bathers are asked to use swimwear when bathing at the Thermal Spring.

Recognizing this important part of our heritage, SHIKI-NO-MA is a faithful yet modern reconstruction of part of the former Mitsui home, constructed from Japanese cypress. SHIKI-NO-MA can be used for a variety of purposes, such as exclusive dining events and tea ceremony gatherings.
