History & Story
Opened in July 2002 on Taha’a, neighbour to Raiatea, the historic cradle of Polynesian migration, Le Taha’a by Pearl Resorts was conceived as a living tribute to this heritage. The double-hulled canoe is its symbol, woven into every detail from the boathouse-inspired reception to the canoe-shaped bathtubs in the overwater suites. In 2004, it became the first Relais & Châteaux property in French Polynesia, a milestone reflecting its founding commitment to authenticity, culinary excellence and the guardianship of local culture.
Built around the island’s existing sacred vegetation, the resort has always placed environmental stewardship at its heart, actively preserving its celebrated coral garden and recently joining the international Biorock® coral restoration project. As the island’s second-largest employer, its team delivers a warmth and personalised welcome that is genuinely, unmistakably local.

Continuous renovations since 2023 from the guest’s villas, the gardens, the boutiques, the ice-cream parlour, the Sauna, and the creation of a traditional danse floor and a Polynesian village.

Location
Set on a private motu on the northwestern tip of Taha’a, Society Islands, approximately 220 km northwest of Tahiti. The island shares its turquoise lagoon with Raiatea, while Bora Bora sits on the horizon. Closest airport: Raiatea (RFP), 35 minutes by boat. A 5-minute boat ride connects guests to the main island of Taha’a.

Fun Facts
Taha’a and Raiatea share the same lagoon and barrier reef, a rare geographical fact in French Polynesia. Both islands are connected by boat across their shared waters. Taha’a is home to around 80% of all Tahitian vanilla production, considered by renowned chefs worldwide to be among the finest and most fragrant on earth.

We do not have a children specific program, even though an important number of activities provided in the property are well appreciated by our children guests, especially the homemade ice-cream house in the gardens.

• Hawaiki Nui Restaurant : Main restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Treehouse setting with lagoon views. Chef Jérémy Weiss’s French-Polynesian menu showcases a great selection of local and international specialties. Being in French Polynesia, fish is a real treat. Vegetarian options are also available.
• Titiraina Relaxed beachside lunch restaurant with Chef Lionel Peu. Poisson cru, grilled lagoon fish, sashimi. Weekly fishermen’s catch-of-the-day barbecue. For dessert, the vanilla crème brûlée is a must.
• Tipairua Restaurant: Flagship gastronomic restaurant. Intimate setting for five-course degustation menus fusing Polynesian flavours with French technique, using local produce source from local fishermen, and farmers, but also delicacies imported from France or New Zealand. Not to forget a curated selection of wines.
• Tiki Bar; Evening bar with Polynesian-twist cocktails, local rum, and sophisticated bites.
