A graduate of the Japan Hotel School and the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne’s Hotel Management Program, Masahisa Oba has over 24 years of hotel experience, 12 of which have been with The Peninsula Hotels. In 2007, he joined The Peninsula Tokyo as Manager of Food & Beverage, and was promoted to Director of Food & Beverage the following year. He was then moved on to serve as Executive Assistant Manager of Food & Beverage at The Peninsula Shanghai, before returning to The Peninsula Tokyo as Resident Manager in 2011. In June 2014, he moved to Hong Kong after securing the post of Hotel Manager at The Peninsula Hong Kong. After a dozen years with The Peninsula Hotels, Mr. Oba sees his latest appointment as General Manager of The Peninsula Manila as a crowning professional achievement.

The Peninsula Manila is a landmark hotel that has been a destination in its own right since opening in 1976. There are few hotels in the capital with such a rich and colorful history, where a long list of VIPs have stepped into its imposing, classic lobby—an architectural gem that best exemplifies the city’s glamorous side.
