John Sax, owner of Kinloch Manor is a visionary man, he dreams big and this is the very reason why he succeeds. It is from his boyhood dreams that John has created the internationally claimed Treetops Lodge and Estate set in a wilderness park in Rotorua and now joining under Johns ownership and management is sister lodge, Kinloch Manor with the world multi awarded , The Kinloch Club a Jack Nicklaus designed 18 hole Signature golf course in nearby Taupo . Once described by the New Zealand Life and Leisure magazine as “a man who clearly missed out on the ‘can’t’ gene”, John is always obliging to share his visions, his dreams and ultimate success with guests. John is a promoter and champion of caring communities and in particular has a strong desire to make New Zealand a better place for all children. He has spent many years involved in child and youth development particularly in the lower socio-economic areas and as such, John founded and still chairs For the Sake of our Children Trust. At the heart of the Trust is the Vision, “to see a nation where every child is safe from harm; has a sense of belonging, of feeling loved and valued; has access to the basics to engage fully in life and realise their own unique potential.

Newly opened in January 2016 The Kinloch Manor offers irresistible new heights of golfing and uber-luxury lodgings to discerning lovers of natural beauty and of cutting-edge lodge design – complementing a spectacular, on-site, 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, The Kinloch Club is voted twice, #1 Golf Course in New Zealand by a select team of PGA New Zealand Golf Professionals.
Set in tranquil 254ha grounds of The Kinloch Manor, on the shores of New Zealand’s Lake Taupo is the uber-luxury Lodge at Kinloch designed by multi-award winning Andrew Patterson of Patterson Architects and interior designer Virginia Fisher, renowned for her work involving luxury lodges and hotels in New Zealand and around the world.
A short stroll from the lodge at Kinloch are 10 luxury villas which were inspired to harmonise with the serene natural setting of this 18-hole lakeside links course. Patterson and Fisher have applied their formidable skills on the exterior and interior design creating expansive accommodation spaces of junior suites, 1 and 2 bedroom villas. All feature stunning designer elements including vista windows of the lake and golf course, huge log fireplaces, sensational marble bathrooms and secluded furnished terraces.
The world-class restaurant uses organic reared produce adhering to The Lodge at Kinloch’s ‘Estate to Plate’ philosophy, matched with the very best New Zealand and international wines.
Complementing the championship golf course is a resort offering excellent in-lodge and villa entertainment facilities, an on-site spa specialising in sporting therapeutic and organic wellness treatments, and two tennis courts.

The Architecture at the Kinloch Manor has been briefed as a modern version of a Scottish Castle with an inland Links golf course surrounding the lodge and villas. Attention to detail at every corner with both the architecture and interior design of the main lodge and villas. We have an onsite Day spa, 4 helipads, 2 tennis courts as well as New Zealand’sonly Jack Nicklaus signature championship 18-hole Golf course.
Location
The Kinloch Manor is nestled in the township of Kinloch, a 20-minute drive from Taupo centre or 30 minutes from Taupo Airport.
Taupo is under one hour from Rotorua and just over one hour to the Tongariro National Park, home of the Tongariro Crossing and Mordor film location from Lord of the Rings.

This is home to Mordor and other various scenes from the Lord of The Rings movies, The Tongariro Crossing (rated by Lonely Planet as the number 1 day walk in NZ and in the top 10 in the world) and NZ’s largest ski area at Mt Ruapehu.

Our chefs can organise a Kids menu specific to the children that are staying.
Tennis rackets and children’s bikes are available for guests. Golf practise facilities are free of charge for lodge guests, the putting green is a favourite for the slightly more competitive.
