Main Strengths, Special Touch
Amongst the leisure experiences available at Kauri Cliffs is the Par 72 Championship Golf Course, consistently ranked in the top 100 in the world and a world-class luxury spa facility. Boasting three private beaches, a waterfall, a native forest and many miles of marked walking trails the leisure opportunities at Kauri Cliffs are numerous.
Location
Located on a 6,000-acre working sheep and cattle farm near Matauri Bay, just north of the Bay of Islands.
Key sites/activities in the area
The region is celebrated for its fishing, sailing and motor cruising within the Bay of Islands. Northland is considered the birthplace of New Zealand with its historical sites including Kerikeri basin, Waitangi and the seaside village of Russell. Day tours can reach the sand dunes of 90-mile beach on the west coast and the northernmost point of New Zealand, Cape Reinga where guests can see the Tasman and Pacific oceans meet.
Fun Facts
Kauri Cliffs were home to the largest privately-owned Kauri Tree which has since been vested in the QEII Trust for protection and enjoyment by future generations.
Pink Beach, one of the three private beaches takes its name from the hue of the sand. On closer inspection, the sand is actually made up of tiny broken up shells which are where the colour comes from.
On Friday nights during the summer months (Dec-Mar), all guests are invited to enjoy a gourmet barbeque dinner at Pink Beach.
Children’s Corner
Kauri Cliffs welcome families with children of all ages to the lodge. Special attention is made to families with private dining, amenities and activities tailored to children and their ages.
