History & Story
A unique, family-run Relais & Chateaux hotel in Peru’s Sacred Valley (the midpoint between Cusco City and Machu Picchu) was founded in order to sustain a school for local children. A sustainable experience combining luxury accommodation with wellness, gastronomy and excursions, the 43-casitas are set within extensive gardens filled with flowers and humming birds. Delivering a true sense of place, Sol y Luna was decorated by Peruvian artists – with fine, handmade local furniture, exquisite bed linen made from 100% high density cotton, local tapestries and beautiful frescoed murals by acclaimed Peruvian artist, Federico Bauer. There are two restaurants on-site, one of which is located in the Wayra Ranch, home to 25 Peruvian Paso horses (there are daily demonstrations over lunch). An adventure’s playground, days in the Sacred Valley are spent exploring the iconic Inca site of Machu Picchu, trekking, quad biking, horse riding, visiting local markets… and relaxing in our grounds and spa.
