Chalet Hibou is hidden in a remote corner of the French Alps within the Tarentaise Valley. Perched on top of a sleepy village called Le Miroir, Chalet Hibou looks down upon windy historical corridors steeped in European history and charm. Enclosed on all sides by world-class ski resorts, the Savoie region is an alpine playground that enchants skiers and sightseers alike. Perhaps one of the most special elements of Chalet Hibou is the exceptional guide team that customizes a myriad of high-energy outdoor adventures. A helipad just down the road launches guests to Italy’s famed backcountry terrain for heli-skiing, while cross country skiing and snowshoeing are also available. Summertime is filled with glacier hiking, via ferrata, rafting, road cycling, mountain biking, and climbing.
Date of building and last renovation
In partnership with Eleven Experience, No. 12 Interiors was involved in the initial architectural redesign of the chalets around 2018. A certain section of the chalet dates back to the 17th century, standing as one of the oldest buildings in Le Miroir. As such, the designers maintained a focus on the local traditional style by utilizing Savoyard building techniques. Instead of embellishing the building with large plate glass windows, the team opted to encourage guests to open the French doors and step outside to enjoy the striking views of the Alps. The rooms are layered with classic vintage textiles and antiques, exposed wooden beams, and “Bleu de Savoie” stone floors, giving guests an uninterrupted experience of true Alpine elegance.
