Château d’Audrieu
History & Story
The history of Château d’Audrieu is intimately tied to that of Normandy and its legendary figure, William the Conqueror. Once known in Antiquity as Alderium, the village of Audrieu lies just a few kilometres from Bayeux, on lands that have witnessed centuries of French history.
Originally belonging to the Percy family, the estate traces its roots back to the 11th century, William de Percy himself fought alongside William the Conqueror at the Battle of Hastings. The Château, as it stands today, was reborn in the early 18th century, its elegant classical façade reflecting the grace and refinement of the French Enlightenment.
Surrounded by the calm of Normandy’s countryside, Château d’Audrieu remains a living testament to its storied past, a place where heritage and harmony meet, and history whispers through every stone and garden path.
