History & Story
Opened in 1910 for Brussels World Exhibition, on special request of the King of Belgium, the Grand Hotel Astoria was designed by architect Henri Van Dievoet in Belle Époque style, to embody timeless elegance. After years of closure, it is now being meticulously restored to its former grandeur and reopened on 9 December 2024 as Corinthia Grand Hotel Astoria Brussels.

December 2024 – Prior to the reopening in December 2024, the classified part of the building (façade and ground floor) has been entirely renovated, the rest of the building (6 floors) being totally rebuild. The entire project being handled by the famous Belgian architect – Francis Metzger.

Fun Facts
Our iconic skylight in the Palm Court, on ground floor, is identical to the original skylight created in 1910. Having only black & white from this original skylight, our architect Francis Metzger took inspiration on the colours from preserved original pieces of stain glasses located on top of the historical staircase on the first floor. This historical pieces of stain glasses are still visible and accessible today.
The original hotel Astoria has been opened in 1910, by request of the king of Belgium, to be the first Palace in the city and to welcome the VIPs attending
the 1st World Exhibition in Brussels happening the same year.
