Zeèv Rosenberg has been managing Das Stue since November 2024. Rosenberg aims to establish the hotel as a landmark not only in Germany, but also in Europe as a whole. He has already initiated several projects, including the « Literatur Talk », which enhances Das Stue’s intellectual standing. He also introduced a new restaurant, CARTE BLANCHE, with a new chef and cuisine refined cuisine.

History & Story
The building was originally commissioned by the Royal Danish Family in the 1930s to serve as an embassy. The architect was Johann Emil Schaudt, who also designed the well-known KaDeWe shopping mall in Berlin. During the conversion of the building into a hotel, the Potsdam-based firm Axthelm Architekten added a new wing to the building’s former back courtyard in 2012. This new wing is clad in a floral-patterned photo concrete facade, which acts as an elegant counterbalance to the roughly dressed stone façade of the main building. Today, Das Stue’s diplomatic legacy is evident in the stately architecture and the modernist façade of the heritage building.

While Patricia Urquiola artistically directed and designed all public spaces and fluidly integrated shared spaces such as the lobby, cocktail bar and restaurants, LVG Arquitectura finalized the interior room and suite design.

« Stue » is Danish for « living room », which is exactly the feeling the house wants to give its guest. A feeling of home, relaxation and comfort. Europe’s largest zoo is quite literally next door to Das Stue. You can spot the animals from a few hotel rooms as well as the bar. You may use the hotels private entrance to the Berlin zoo from the terrace.
