Development strategy
To become a comprehensive, high-end lifestyle and wellness destination.
The Domaine de Verchant is pursuing a development strategy focused on experiential luxury. We aim to become a comprehensive destination by combining accommodations, wellness, fine dining, and wellness services. The goal is to attract a high-end wellness clientele and maximize revenue per guest—rather than volume—through premium, personalized offerings.
DOMAINE DE VERCHANT
History & Story
The Domaine de Verchant embodies a long history, that of a wine estate deeply rooted in the Languedoc region. Nestled among vineyards and listed gardens, just a few minutes from Montpellier, this estate—steeped in over 2,000 years of history—has weathered the ages, notably as a former 16th-century manor house. Restored with remarkable precision, it has preserved its soul while embracing a resolutely contemporary aesthetic. Owned by Chantal Mestre and Pierre Mestre since 2002, it now embodies a refined art of living, combining heritage, modernity, comfort, and excellence.
Date Renewal
In 2007, the main building and the Prestige reception hall—converted from a former barn—were renovated under the direction of architect Pascal Megias.
Date added extensions
In 2015, the resort expanded with a 200-square-meter spa extension, a new outdoor pool, and a second restaurant, La Plage; then in 2025, a new development was completed with the addition of 25 rooms and suites, as well as the opening of the Marcelle restaurant, under the direction of the architectural firm Megias-Vernhes.
Main Strengths, Special Touch
The main strength of the Domaine de Verchant lies in its unique ability to combine a deep historical heritage with a contemporary vision of luxury and well-being. Surrounded by vineyards, it offers an immersive sensory experience where architecture, nature, and light work together to create a true sense of calm and escape. Its special touch comes from its holistic approach to hospitality: a 2,500 m² spa dedicated to longevity, personalized wellness programs, refined gastronomy, and elegant rooms designed as peaceful retreats. This balance between heritage, modern design, and transformative well-being makes it a truly distinctive destination in the luxury hospitality landscape.
Location
The Domaine de Verchant is located on the outskirts of Montpellier, in a peaceful Mediterranean setting surrounded by vineyards, olive trees, and almond groves. It offers a privileged location between countryside and city, just minutes from Montpellier, a place where historical heritage meets contemporary architecture. The estate is also awarded the “Jardin Remarquable” label, highlighting the quality of its landscaped natural environment and reinforcing its identity as a refined and serene retreat.
