GRACE HOTEL, AN AUBERGE RESORTS
History & Story
Grace Santorini, an Auberge Resorts is an exclusive boutique hotel in Santorini, Greece, perched above the world-famous Caldera with breathtaking views and sumptuous sunsets. The hotel has received global critical acclaim and was listed in the Conde Nast Traveller Gold List 2012 for Best Location in Europe.
The pride of this romantic escape is The Villa – a 400 sq m double suite offering the ultimate luxury on Santorini island with the most perfect view of Greece’s Aegean Sea amid privacy and tranquillity.
Located in the romantic setting of Imerovigli in the northwest of the island, high above the Caldera, Grace Santorini is the perfect vantage point from which to enjoy the famed Santorini island sunsets that envelop Greece’s Cyclades Islands. Luxury accommodation in Santorini has never been better situated – the perfect boutique hotel in Santorini for a holiday or honeymoon.
Main Strengths, Special Touch
Our iconic design, in collaboration with Mplusm, allows this extraordinary landscape to take centre stage.
Like the traditional island dwellings, yposkafa, rooms and suites are carved out of the cliff-face. Instead of typical rounded walls and domed roofs, we opted for sharper, more contemporary lines that protect residents from passers-by, while drawing the gaze towards the horizon. Inspired by the geological strata of Santorini’s cliffs, the hotel slots into the landscape like a stack of stone ledges. The broken geometry of the boundaries reflects the jagged outline of Skaros, the ruins of a medieval citadel eye-level with the site.
The hotel is located in the stunning village of Imerovigli , Approximately 2km from the Capita Thira (Fira) , the area is an authentic Santorinian Village felled with great tavernas and the most amazing sunset views on the island . Also close to vineyards and archaeological sites , the location is the perfect Pied a Terre for exploring the island in all its beauty.
Key sites/activities in the area
Imerovigli Village – Its position at the highest, most central part of the caldera gave it visual command of the whole area. It also derived importance from its proximity to Skaros Fortress. The Church of the Panagia Malteza has a marvellous carved wooden screen with icons depicting scenes from the Old Testament. There is a path from Imerovigli caldera walkway to Skaros Rock and the Chapel of Panagia Theoskepasti.
Santorini’s official name is actually Thira.
The island sits in the water-filled caldera of a massive volcano that is thought to have ended Minoan civilization on Crete.
Before it was called Santorini, the island was known as Kallístē, meaning “the most beautiful one.” Due to its volcanic past, Santorini has white, black, AND red beaches. Despite a harsh, dry climate, Santorini has a flourishing wine industry.
Grace Kids: For safety reasons due to location, the hotel only accepts children over the age of 14. However, the Villa with private pool is suitable for families with younger children.
Grace Hotel, an Auberge Resort offers 20 rooms, suites, and a villa, which start at around 45 square meters and run clear up to around 400 square meters (approximately 485 to 4,300 square feet). Decor across categories is elegant and contemporary. Rooms have high walls and ceilings painted stark white, lots of windows (many with views out over the Santorini Caldera), white sheets and blankets accented by colored cushions and coordinating marbled lampshades, and wooden desks, tables, and trim to offset the otherwise bright-white spaces.
Standard amenities include private terraces with chairs and tables, Nespresso coffeemakers, minibars, flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi. Bathrooms have, at a minimum, large walk-in showers and Apivitia-brand toiletries. The hotel also offers a Bespoke by Grace program through which guests can send their preferences to the hotel in advance for things like pillow firmness and in-room aromatherapy scents. Entry-level Deluxe Rooms and slightly larger Junior Suites come with or without private plunge pools; the rest of the units here have at least one pool (Grace Suites have indoor and outdoor plunge pools and steam baths), and the Honeymoon Suite units add pre-stocked kitchens. Note that some rooms back up onto a small footpath, which means passersby can see right into some units, though this is fairly common for Santorini
The hotel’s private luxury retreat is the Villa – a self-contained 400 sq m two-bedroom suite offering residents a prestigious sanctuary. Meticulously planned, its luxurious accommodation and exclusive amenities make every stay exceptional. The Villa has its own spa with a steam bath, an indoor plunge pool, and a treatment room.
From a relaxing massage to a revitalizing facial, Grace Hotel, an Auberge Resort’s full range of treatments can be enjoyed in absolute privacy and peace. The Villa’s open-plan kitchen is equipped with a pre-stocked refrigerator, wine & cigar bar as well as a private chef available on request. Guests may unwind with Smart-System TV and a book library. Villa technology includes secure Wi-Fi, iPad and mobile smartphones. The outside spaces, extending over 250 sq m, stage breathtaking views. Double-level seating areas and sun decks overlook the private heated swimming pool, outdoor fireplace and gazebo. With a dedicated Villa Manager available instantly at any request, the Grace attention to detail is second to none at the Villa
