History & Story
Designed in the 1960s by architect-sculptor Jacques Couëlle as work of art to be inhabited and experienced, Cala di Volpe’s architecture is undulating, rural, and as soft as an embrace. Inspired by the aesthetics of ancient nuraghe and stazzi, the typical dwellings of Sardinian farmers and shepherds, this style has become representative of the architectural style.

Between 2021 and 2023 the Hotel was fully renovated. The main building rooms and suites have been reinterpreted by Architects Bruno Moinard and Claire Bétaille, while the original wing inventory has been redesigned by Rodolfo Dordoni Architetti. The Harrods Suite was refurbished by Harrods Design Studio.

The Hotel Cala di Volpe is nestled in one of the most stunning bays of the Costa Smeralda destination on the northeastern cost of Sardinia. Since its debut in the 1960s, the Hotel has been a darling of the international jet set. Over the last couple of years, the hotel has been entirely renovated and enriched with an exclusive collection of ultra-luxury brands. Highlights include the Harrods-designed Penthouse Suite, the addition of the two new restaurants Beefbar and Nobu Matsuhisa, the Dolce & Gabbana pool takeover, the Shiseido Spa, and partnerships with Mouratoglou for the Tennis Academy, Molinari for the Golf Academy at the 18-hole Pevero Golf Club, and the Juventus Football Academy. The Costa Smeralda is a coastal stretch in northeastern Sardinia, stretching for 55 kilometers. The expression indicates the stretch of the coast which extends from Capo Ferro – located just north of Porto Cervo – to the Gulf of Cugnana, at the beginning of the municipal territory of Olbia, near the beach of Rena Bianca Portisco.
