History & Story
Nestled in the heart of Provence, Château de Fonscolombe was built in the 18th century in the Italian Quattrocento style as a family home by Denis Boyer de Fonscolombe, and later enriched by the Marquis de Saporta, who filled its 12-hectare park with over 180 rare and exotic trees, creating a living tapestry of nature from around the world. The Château welcomes guests to 50 rooms and suites, each a haven of timeless elegance. Its two culinary retreats, le Temps Suspendu, intimate and bistronomic, and La Table de l’Orangerie, a gourmet sanctuary, invite guests on a journey of flavors guided by Executive Chef Marc Fontanne. Beyond gastronomy, Château de Fonscolombe offers moments of pure serenity: an Esthederm spa, cozy lounges, a library, a French garden, and a vineyard all set within the park. In 2014, Château de Fonscolombe entered a new chapter of its history with 18 months of meticulous architectural studies, followed by 12 months of careful construction. Every detail was considered, from preserving the Château’s historic features to enhancing comfort and modern luxury. This renewal allowed the estate to offer refined spaces for its rooms, lounges, and dining areas, while maintaining the sense of intimacy and serenity that has defined the Château for centuries. The project seamlessly blended heritage and contemporary elegance, ensuring that guests experience both the charm of its past and the comforts of today.

Fun Facts
The clock on one of the castle’s two towers stopped at 11:11 a.m. when the deed of sale was signed in 2014. Since then, we ring a bell every day at 11:11 a.m. The Queen Mother of England came to stay in 1962 and slept in one of the castle’s rooms, room 203, now called “The Queen’s Room.”
