History & Story
Orient Express La Minerva is nestled in the heart of Rome, with magnificent views of the iconic Pantheon. Originally built in 1620, and transformed in a hotel in 1811, the property has undergone extensive restoration, now unveiling renovated interiors by award winning architect and designer Hugo Toro. The first Orient Express Hotel combines rich heritage with contemporary elegance and offers 93 rooms and suites, ranging from 25 to 235 square meters, an iconic rooftop restaurant and bar with breathtaking views of the Eternal City, and wellness areas inspired by Ottoman Bath rituals.

Location
Located in the lively Rione Pigna, in the very heart of Rome. The hotel overlooks the historic Basilica of Santa Maria sopra Minerva, and the notorious obelisk sculpted by Gian Lorenzo Bernini placed in the center of the Piazza.
The hotel owns one of the most exclusive 360° views of the city, with a unique glimpse of the Pantheon.

Fun Facts
Among La Minerva’s memories, the visit of Pope Pius IX who came to meet Cardinal Aguirre, bishop of Guayaquil. The hotel also became a favorite destination for prominent artists and intellectuals during the Grand Tour, hosting figures such as Stendhal, Vittorio Alfieri, and Herman Melville. In the center of Piazza della Minerva, the Obelisk with the iconic elephant sculpted by Gian Lorenzo Bernini sits tall overlooking the hotel entrance.
