Development strategy
The Alpina Gstaad is committed to achieving best practice environmental and social sustainability and has partnered with EarthCheck, the world’s leading Benchmarking and Certification provider. At this property, we recognize that the natural environment around us is the main driver for tourism in the region and the activities of our hotel have the potential for negative impacts on this habitat and its community. Our Environmental Management System of the EarthCheck Company helps us to properly manage these impacts. We strongly believe that our sustainability efforts serve the interest of both current and future generations and constitute the foundation of long-lasting success.
The Alpina Gstaad
History & Story
The Alpina Gstaad is the first five-star hotel that was built in the Swiss Alpine village in 100 years. Set on 5 acres, the luxury hotel is part of a $337 million development that includes private chalets and apartments. A contemporary interpretation of traditional Swiss architecture, the property – with 56 suites and rooms – was crafted with authentic local materials including Ringgenberg limestone and hundred-year-old fir wood.
Main Strengths, Special Touch
Surrounded by spectacular nature, The Alpina Gstaad is an intimate and discreet haven in the Alps providing an authentic and indulgent Swiss mountain experience. Inspired by local culture and crafts, The Alpina Gstaad blends local tradition and global contemporary inspiration with the discretion and extreme attention to detail that is typical of Swiss luxury.
Location
Gstaad, a unique village set in the Bernese Oberland, has defined discretion and luxurious mountain holidays for almost a century. Thanks to very restrictive construction approval procedures the whole valley of Saanen retains its majestic beauty of traditional chalets and alpine nature.
Key sites/activities in the area
No matter if our guests may like to visit contemporary art galleries, Michelin stared chalet-restaurants, untouched nature with a picnic by a clear blue alpine lake, Skiing, or a visit at the chocolate factory nearby, the Gstaad region offers surprises year-round with vast winter and summer activities at disposition.
