General Manager of Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh – The Caledonian, Dale MacPhee, began her journey with Hilton Worldwide 30 years ago. Originally, from Nova Scotia, Canada, Dale has lived in Europe for 25 years, in locations including Bucharest, Prague, Istanbul and London. Growing organically through the organization, Dale has held her position of General Manager in Edinburgh, Scotland since 2013.
A seasoned hotelier, Dale is an incredible advocate in offering emerging hoteliers their first opportunity in a leadership role. Placing a large emphasis on her team’s career development and empowerment at Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh, she is widely known as a ‘people-developer’, often mentoring new hospitality leaders before they emerge onto new career opportunities.
Dale’s dedication to supporting her local community is a prominent focus of her time, sitting on the board of HIT Scotland – encouraging the development and growth of members of the hospitality industry, acting as a mentor to women emerging in their careers for Business Women Scotland, a member of the Edinburgh Hotel Association and is actively involved in the development of marketing initiatives for the City of Edinburgh. In July of 2022, Dale was recognized as the 2022 Manager of the Year at The Cateys, a true testament to her passion for the hospitality industry and drive to inspire and support her peers.
