History & Story
Urso Hotel & Spa is located in a historic building originally built in 1915 by Mendoza Ussía. The property integrates the stately character of Madrid’s 20th-century bourgeois architecture with the modernity and comfort of a modern luxury hotel.
The building, which was originally the headquarters of the old Biscayan company Papelera Española, preserves its neoclassical elegance with its towers, chamfers and balconies. Its history is also evident in the interior spaces, with original elements such as the central courtyard, the colourful stained glass windows, the decorative tiles, the library, the marble floors and the wood-panelled walls.

Beautiful rugs scattered over marble floors, restored oak panelling and fine fabrics covering the walls, and spacious, uncluttered rooms all give Urso Hotel & Spa the feeling of a patrician private house. Breakfast is served in a vertical garden surrounding with kentia palms and moss. Full of light and with a distinct calming atmosphere it is the perfect way to start the day. The first branded luxury hotel spa in Madrid – with treatments by the prestigious Spanish skincare specialist, Natura Bissé. An intimate and discreet hideaway offering a magical combination of the latest scientific innovation and unadulterated relaxation. The spa has three treatment rooms, a Hammam, steam bath and a hydrotherapy pool.

Located in the heart of Madrid, in a privileged setting between the central districts of Chamberí, Tribunal and Chueca, Urso allows guests to dive into the true essence of the capital. The elegant and residential neighbourhood of Las Salesas boasts some of the most unique places in the city: small and exclusive restaurants, charming boutiques filled with handcrafted pieces, art galleries, embassies, local markets, etc., all of which reveal an authentic setting for its international visitors.

Las Salesas Neighbourhood is located just a 10-minute walk from the eclectic Gran Vía and a pleasant stroll from Madrid’s art triangle that brings together some of Europe’s most famous museums such as the Prado, the Thyssen Museum and the Reina Sofía.

We do not have any children’s corner although we can welcome families in our eight Family Rooms and our Family Suite, ranging from 60 to 80 sqm, allowing our guests to have their little ones close while enjoying a spacious and comfortable room.

This intimate and private space, which offers the opportunity to enjoy a luxury spa, has several cabins that provide different treatments from the prestigious cosmetic brands Comfort Zone and Natura Bissé. It also features a tranquil water area with bubbles and a hot and cold water system.
