History & Story
Originally an office building known as the Canal Building, it was constructed in 1963, and was the first major new building constructed in Georgetown in 50 years. The structure was originally designed as a spare, Federalist-style red brick building with small windows. The building was a « first » in a couple of ways. It was the first major new building constructed in Georgetown in the past 50 years, and it was the first new office building constructed in Georgetown in 100 years. The hotel, which opened in 2013, offers ample privacy, bespoke guest services and a tangible connection to the culture and traditions of the nation’s capital. It was later rebranded as the Rosewood Washington, D.C. in 2016.
