THE MARK
History & Story
The Mark is housed in a beautiful, 1920’s landmark building at the corner of 77th Street and Madison Avenue in the heart of Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Step inside, and The Mark has been completely reimagined, giving it a new life and identity for the 21st century.
The Mark harmonizes old-world comfort, avantgarde design, up-to-the-minute technologies and an unprecedented level of personal service to create one of the finest five-star hotels in the world. Drawing on the expertise of an extraordinary group of talents, foremost among them the legendary designer Jacques Grange, The Mark Hotel is a beacon of high French style and modern American comfort in the heart of New York City. Located on the ground floor, The Mark Restaurant by Chef Jean-Georges is open daily for breakfast, lunch, dinner, festive specials and 24-hour room service to hotel guests. A world class menu of subtly innovative European classics as well as Jean-Georges’ signature global seasonings sure to satisfy cravings for both simple and eclectic palates alike. For those looking for a taste of Paris in New York, the famously chic Caviar Kaspia has found its home at The Mark serving an exceptional menu of signature dishes which are perfectly complimented by the finest selection of caviars.
Each accommodation at The Mark is a symphony in understated elegance, with luxurious bedding and linen and furnishings in ebony, sycamore and nickel. The black-and-white marble-sheathed bathrooms evoke Art Deco glamour and feature deep-soaking tubs, heated towel racks, and polished nickel fittings by the British maker LeFroy Brooks; most offer a separate glass-enclosed shower. The lighting, shades, temperature and audio/visual system can all be controlled with a single touch via a Crestron remote touchscreen. The beds are custom-made for The Mark, the duvet and pillows are filled with American white goose down, and the linens are by Revival New York.
The latest technologies have been seamlessly integrated throughout every room in The Mark to provide the ultimate in audio-visual connectivity. Internet service is provided via Ethernet/dedicated VPN for the ultimate in speed and technology; complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi is also available. Remote and confidential printing services are available and include the capability of printing from smartphones and other handheld devices.
The Mark’s comprehensive fitness facility is located on the 2nd floor and is available 24 hours a day; through the concierge, private training sessions with celebrity trainer, Dan Flores, can be arranged. The Mark is home to the world’s most famous hairstylist, Frédéric Fekkai. The full spectrum of services that Fekkai made famous — including his individual approach to hair and beauty, the high level of pampering, his personally selected staff of stylists and beauty specialists and the high quality of his eponymous products — are all readily available to our hotel guests with a simple call to the concierge.
