The Ottomans cultivated tulips not just in flower beds and gardens, but also used the flowers as patterns on textiles, rugs, ceramic tiles, buildings and as design inspirations for fountains.
The use of blue, red and gold as a harmonious blend was often not just for aesthetic purposes; the artists would use these shades to convey a sense of longevity with turquoise and affluence with red and gold.
