Discover The Palm Beaches (DTPB) is the official destination marketing organization for Palm Beach County, Florida, and serves as a travel planning resource for domestic and international visitors visiting the destination for leisure and business travel. DTPB promotes the collection of 39 cities and towns commonly referred to as “The Palm Beaches,” an area of southeast Florida that spans from Jupiter in the north to Boca Raton in the south, connected by 47 miles of golden beaches.
The Palm Beaches are home to more than 19,000 hotel rooms, ranging from historic five-star resorts to boutique inns. The area features a wide collection of activities to curate the perfect vacation, including more than 100 family-friendly attractions, iconic shopping venues such as Worth Avenue, award winning restaurants with famed chefs and a thriving entertainment scene boasting more than 200 art and culture organizations. For outdoor adventurers, there are 125 miles of peaceful waterways for on- or in-the-water activities like boating and paddleboarding, and 160 artificial reefs await for divers and snorkelers. Golfers of all levels will enjoy Florida’s Golf Capital, as the destination has more than 145 golf courses.

HISTORY
The Palm Beaches’ tourism began in the late 1800’s when Henry Morrison Flagler -John D. Rockefeller’s partner at Standard Oil, brought the East Coast Railway to the southeast coast of Florida. He fell in love with the area and declared the destination a veritable paradise. Shortly after, he set out to build the first resort in Palm Beach. After teaming success, and an additional property, visitors started to describe their time in The Palm Beaches as their “Winter Getaway”. Creating seasonal galas and not to be missed events, the sub-tropical destination created a landscape for experiencing our Gilded Age-old hospitality. Architect Addison Mizner followed closely and left his mark on parts of the destination with inspiration from his travels throughout Europe. Incorporating archways that are enveloped with bright bougainvillea and stairways with outward facing vibrant mosaic tiles. Today, explore and experience the unspoiled touches of the past in The Palm Beaches.
OUR CITIES
In 1878, a Spanish ship carrying 20,000 coconuts wrecked just off the South Florida coast, in what is known today as the Town of Palm Beach. Locals planted the non-native seeds, growing palm trees and giving the area the tropical island feel for which it’s now known. Today, 39 Florida cities, towns and villages make up The Palm Beaches, each with its own distinct personality.
The historic heart of Downtown West Palm Beach is Clematis Street, where colorful boutiques and antiques shops sit side by side with sidewalk cafes, nightclubs, and historic landmarks. Clematis by Night, which takes place every Thursday evening, brings out sun-kissed fun-seekers for a free weekly concert, dancing and the happiest of hours by the West Palm Beach Waterfront.
Boca Raton’s beaches and natural features are peaceful and beautiful, but the pink-hued Mediterranean Revival architecture, a vision of architect Addison Mizner from the 1920s, is what makes the city so wonderfully bright. Mizner Park was constructed in this memorable architectural style with perfectly landscaped grounds, upscale shops, eateries, and cultural attractions — putting Boca Raton at the top of the list of must-see Florida cities.
In Jupiter, history buffs can get their fill of the historical ties to the areas first inhabitants and pioneer families by touring the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum, lighting the way for ships since 1860. In Palm Beach, shop the boutiques along historic Worth Avenue – a three-block-long street that spans from the Atlantic Ocean to the Intracoastal Waterway, and then tour Flagler’s Winter Residence turned museum (The Flagler Museum), a breathtaking 75-room Gilded Age estate.
Festivals capture the color and local culture of the destination year-round. The Street Painting Festival in Lake Worth Beach, held each February, showcases this creative community’s love for the arts, while the western-style culture of the Village of Wellington is best experienced during the Winter Equestrian Festival from January through April. The big-city sophistication yet small-town feel of Delray Beach shines through during the Morikami Museum & Japanese Gardens’ international celebration of Japanese culture each April during its Hatsume Fair.
Enjoy the relaxing side of Florida away from big resorts and cities in Boynton Beach. Shopping, small diners and unassuming waterside restaurants capture the charm of small-town Florida. EVENT & SPORTING ACTIVITIES
Whether you are ready to hit the deep blue on a fishing charter or tee it up on a championship course, there is plenty to keep active. Winter season is host to three months of equestrian action – show jumping, dressage and polo – across Wellington, home to the National Polo Center and Wellington International. Not only is the Winter Equestrian Festival one of the largest annual sporting events in The Palm Beaches, it’s also the longest-running equestrian event in the world. It attracts national and international athletes competing for prizes, readying for the Olympics, or beginning careers in equestrian. The high-goal polo season brings some of the top-rated players from across the globe to compete.
PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens has been the permanent home to The Cognizant Classic, formerly The Honda Classic, since 2007. The club consists of five elegant 18-hole courses, but the PGA tournament is played on the distinctive Champion Course every year. The course was redesigned in 2014 and is now famous for “The Bear Trap,” a challenging three-hole stretch designed by the Golden Bear himself, Jack Nicklaus.
The Palm Beaches are the Spring Training location for the Washington Nationals, St. Louis Cardinals, Houston Astros and Miami Marlins. From superstars and rookies to guys just trying to make the team, Spring Training is a fan-friendly atmosphere everyone should experience at least once. In The Palm Beaches, sports fans can enjoy not one but two baseball stadiums – CACTI Park of The Palm Beaches, and Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.
See current and past legends of professional tennis compete at the Delray Beach Open, held each February. This ATP 250 tournament consists of competitive, single-elimination singles and doubles events, featuring some of the top-ranked men’s professionals in the world. There’s also an ATP Champions Tour Legends Team Event, which will see former top-10 players team up for a showdown of Team Americas vs. Team World.
