Latest Renovations
The latest renovations at Villa Reale, initiated in 2015 by Henric and Marina Grönberg, focused on restoring the Villa, the Clock House, the Stables, and the surrounding park. The restoration blends advanced technologies with traditional Tuscan craftsmanship. Key work includes revitalising the Villa’s interiors, with attention to Carrara marble, wooden furniture, paintings, frescoes, and flooring. The Clock House, dating from 1655, was restored to enhance its historical features, including the iconic six-hour clock and subterranean tunnel linking it to the Villa. The Stables were converted into a cultural event space, preserving their original style while accommodating modern use. The park restoration began in 2014, concentrating on vegetation conservation and plant health. The entrance buildings, designed by Giovanni Lazzarini, were also meticulously restored, maintaining their neoclassical symmetry and classical influences.
PRIVATES HIGHLIGHTS
Description
Villa Reale, originally a fortress inhabited by the Duke of Tuscia, transformed over centuries, passing through noble families who refined it into a distinguished estate. In 1651, Olivieri and Lelio Orsetti modernised the Villa and created a baroque-style park with notable features like the Green Theatre and Lemon Garden. Under Elisa Bonaparte, Napoleon’s sister, the Villa was further transformed with neoclassical and empire-style elements, blending English garden design with Italian traditions. In the 19th century, the Villa hosted royalty and nobility, becoming a cultural hub. The Pecci-Blunt family, who acquired the estate in 1923, revitalised the park and introduced new features, including a vibrant swimming pool. After extensive restoration by the Grönbergs in 2015, Villa Reale has been brought back to life, offering visitors a glimpse into its rich history and stunning landscapes.
